Everton defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jagielka-c29902 has set himself the target of earning a place in the national squad for the upcoming Euro 2012, and will get the opportunity to impress the newly appointed England manager, Roy Hodgson in a league match against Newcastle
United on Sunday.

The 29-year old, who has made 10 international appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Trinidad-and-Tobago-c3024, and is
yet to score a goal on international duty.
However, the centre-back missed out on a place in his country’s last game against Netherland in February, as he was suffering from a knee injury.
Jagielka has been nothing short of exceptional for Everton recently, and has played an important role in the club’s remarkable upsurge since the start of this year. He remained optimistic that his impressive performances for the Merseyside outfit will earn
him a call from Hodgson, who took over the management of England after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello stepped down from the post in February.
However, the former Sheffield United player mentioned that he was wary of the tough competition in the squad, and nothing could be said on the matter of his selection till the end of the season.
He told the reporters, “You've got to try to give the manager, obviously Roy Hodgson now, a headache as to who's going to go in his squad, and hopefully I've played well enough in the last few weeks at least to be up there for a shout.”
Jagielka has appeared in 32 matches for the Toffees this season, and also scored 2 goals.
The Englishman also approved the appointment of Hodgson for the national managerial post, citing his vast experience with different English clubs and players.
He continued, “Look at his CV, look at the success he's had… Hopefully Roy can do as well as he can and the boys will do well for him.”
Talking about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043’s last game against Newcastle United on Sunday at Goodison Park, the defender felt that it was nice to conclude the season in front of the home fans and was hopeful of finishing the season on a high.
“We might still need some sort of result come Sunday and if that's the case I'm sure the fans will get behind us and hopefully we'll send them home happy.”
