Englishman Phil Jagielka has been rewarded for his loyalty with Everton as he has signed a new contract with the Toffees on Saturday, 13 November.
Jagielka was also being chased by Arsenal in the 2010 summer transfer window, but he turned down their offer.
Jagielka displayed loyalty with the club unlike Everton’s previous employee Joleon Lescott who parted ways with the club after receiving a big money offer from Manchester City.
Steven Pienaar, another Everton player is currently playing hardball with the club as he is yet to sign a new contract himself. It appears as if the South African winger will depart from the club next June, when his current contract comes to an end.
Everton striker Moyes spoke about Phil Jagielka’s prospects and said, "We had a bid, but it was not a lot of money for Phil. I had a word with him the day before we went to Australia on our pre-season tour. I said they would have needed to offer an awful
lot more money and it was not at that level. He got on with the job, no problem, and there will be a new contract for him, maybe next year."
