Everton’s standing skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jagielka-c29902 felt that his side should have gone on to claim three points out of their game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, despite a couple of refereeing decisions that went against them during the game.
The Toffees were held on to a 0-0 draw at the Molineux Stadium by an already relegated Terry Connor’s side, which kept them at the seventh place in the league table; in a match marred by some controversial decisions by the match officials.
Nikica Jelavic’s first half goal was ruled out by the linesman, after he wrongly judged the Croatian International to be in an off-side position. The Toffees then saw their penalty appeal turned down by the match referee, with replays suggesting that Leon
Osman was clearly tripped inside the box by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Kightly.
Even though Everton dominated the proceedings and created multiple chances throughout the game, the 29-year old believed that they should have emerged victorious, despite being let down by the poor standard of refereeing.
While talking to the club’s official website, he said: “We created a number of chances - or near chances - and maybe selected the wrong pass or maybe had the chance to shoot and didn't and stuff like that.”
However, the English International expressed his satisfaction over his side’s performance over all, and mentioned that the defenders and the goalkeeper had done a fantastic http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 to get yet another clean sheet.
When asked to comment on the referee’s decision not to award a penalty kick in favour of Osman, he responded by saying, “I was on the near post and I've seen that Ossie got there just before him and, as a defender, unfortunately if you get there just that
fraction late and take the man not the ball... it should have been a penalty.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 currently have 53 points from their 37 games, and are four points clear of their Merseyside rivals, Liverpool. They will play their final game of the season against Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Sunday, knowing that a win will help them finish
the table at the seventh spot. Currently, the Toffees are riding on an eight match unbeaten streak in the league.
Jagielka was all praise for his side in terms of what they had achieved this season, and was optimistic of finishing ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the league table.
“We've got to look at the season on the whole now and we're guaranteed to finish at least ninth and hopefully seventh if we can get the right results.”
