I have about 70k I am willing to spend on my second vehicle. I have always been partial to jags just based on looks. I would like to hear some new suggestions also.

**Thanks to all**

  1. Mercedes are probably the most versatile, useful almost anywhere (within reason), are very luxiourous, generally fast and pleasant to drive. However,  more current models, especially the E-class, have had drastic drops in reliability. Jaguars, if you're buying one new, don't offer much variety, but the new x-types are very fun, very luxurious and have the unique ability to change from a roaring monster in high revs to a calm cruiser below 5000 rpm. They are also more reliable than mercedes, although it's best to replace the exhaust piping after about 20,000 miles, which can be costly. Maseratis are the most reliable, most fun, and fastest of the bunch, but are also generally the most expensive. They only get about 13 mpg realistically, and although they are reliable, routine servicing equals once about every 5,000 miles. So, if you don't drive around alot, and therefore don't have to worry about reliability that much, then get the mercedes. If you want a good all-rounder, get the jag, and if performance is your main idea, get the Maserati. All three, however, are above-average, so don't worry that if you make the wrong descision you'll be suckered into something, because they are all good. PS- if you are concerned most about performance, get a used f335. Impractical, (unlike the f430) but one of the best cars to drive. And under 70k. (sorry about the spelling errors, typed this out quickly.)

  2. Mercedes is know for quality and luxury. Don't get me wrong, a Jag or Maserati will be nice inside, but not as nice as a Benz. Both Jag and Maserati are sports cars, and European sports cars are not always know for their creature comforts. A Benz will not only be really nice and luxurious, but they also tend to have some power (especially the more expensive ones). I would also be willing to bet that a comparable Benz gets better economy than a Jag or Maserati. However, like others have mentioned, European cars are really starting do decline in quality (as are some of the Japanese cars) and tend to be overengineered and complicated. I would suggest you actually consider getting a couple nice domestic cars (maybe a car and a truck) so that you can have more than one option. That way, you have truck capability and car preformance and economy.

Me, I'd get a Cadillac, a Suburban and a couple Muscle Cars just so I have more capability and more options every day.

  3. All junk.

Over-engineered, poorly built, unreliable and extremely difficult to service.  After many years of being an enthusiast of fancy European cars I got into the repair business and that cured me.  I am now convinced these vehicles are only for people who need to compensate for something and/or think that overprices Eurotrash automobiles somehow make them more important than other human beings.

  4. Jaguars aren't exactly known for reliability. Mercs are supposedly declining in quality, too. I would go with the Maserati.

  5. Jaguar

  6. MASERATI.

    its the best looking one.

    mercedes is boring

  7. To me Mercedes is nothin but, an overatted luxury car company that is known to have people by their cars once they hit the high dollar spot.

    Same with Jagaur and Maserati.

Me i would rather get a 1970's Cadillac, a chevy, or a Lincoln.

  8. i would say a meserat is better. there arent mass produced and are a rarer vehicle to come across. but if have the money i would go with an aston martin or maybe a lotus.
