Jaguars’ wide receiver Mike Thomas misses Falcons game due to concussion – NFL News
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas has missed Jaguars’ game against Atlanta Falcons played in Atlanta on Thursday due to a concussion.
Thomas had suffered the head injury in their game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on past Sunday. He was expected to join his side for their game against the Falcons but was left inactive for his failing to recover in time.
The team management earlier confirmed that Thomas was made inactive on the roster having reported to be unfit to play. There was no further statement from his bosses whether they expect him return to their side in their next game.
Thomas was replaced by rookie Chastin West to start for the Jaguars in Falcons game for the first time since his signing of off the Green Bay’s practice squad three months ago. It was a debut start for West.
The concussion injuries are normally season-threatening and it was not clear if Thomas would be available for rest of the current regular season.  The team management did not confirm status of his injury and if he holds the prospects
for return to their side at all this season.
The Jaguars have played the Falcons into NFL Week 15 losing by a margin of 14-41. This was their second loss in last three games that the Jaguars have played with their new coach Mel Tucker in charge.
The team has become the side with the highest number of injured players on injury reserve (IR) list in the National Football League (NFL). As many as 27 players were on Jaguars’ IR list before their Falcons’ game.
This may not bode well for their new owner Pakistan-born American business tycoon Shahid Khan. Khan has unanimously approved to be the Jaguars next owner from January 04 2012 when he accepts the ownership rights from the outgoing
owner Wayne Weaver.
Shahid Khan besides his commitment to keep his team in the Jacksonville has expressed confidence in turning around the ailing Jaguars.
The first task on hand of the new owner is to look for a new coach for his side as his former coach Del Rio was released from coaching duties just before his bid for the Jaguars.
