Jailbreak and unlock iPhone ?

does anybody know the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking an iPhone? or are they the same thing?

which one is makes it available to other services besides at&t?

jailbreaking it allows more "freedom" when it comes to your apps.  unlock it would be unlocking it from the carrier restriction allowing you to use it on another gsm carrier.

jailbreaking is when you hack into your iphone enabling you to illegally put in third party apps such as games and instant messengers which you can install.
