Jaime Alguersuari confident about his chances of staying at Toro Rosso – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari has said that his seat at the team is not under any sort of threat and that he is confident that he will stay at the team especially since he scored the 8th place at the European Grand Prix despite
starting from 18th place on the grid.
“I don't think my future is under question or that I will be replaced. I don't care because I want to enjoy the best of Formula One. I do my very best job race after race and I think we can score some points at Silverstone. We had some problems but in life
problems exist,” said Alguersuari.
Toro Rosso have been performing pretty well since the past couple of races as they have secured 3 consecutive point finishes including the European Grand Prix and are currently in 7th place in the constructors’ standings ahead of both Sauber and
Force India.
It is believed that the team is thinking of replacing Alguersuari with their test driver Daniel Ricciardo but since both of the current full season drivers of the team are on an even keel, the Spaniard claims that his position cannot be under threat in such
circumstances.
“You always need to push to recover problems and evaluate yourself and progress. I think we are doing a good job because we are recovering this pace we didn't have at the beginning of the year,” he said.
Other than that, he stated that the teams are trying to understand the tyres more as the medium compound tyres were also reintroduced at this past weekend’s European Grand Prix which played a major role in the car’s setup as well.
The team is currently struggling to score some good qualifying results but their racing pace is quite outstanding as they have been recovering from the very back of the field to score points since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
