Jaime Alguersuari happy with European GP result after tough qualifying round – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari has admitted that he had a very great time at the Valencia Street Circuit among the strong teams during the European Grand Prix.
He added that he is quite happy with his eighth place finish in the Valencia Grand Prix following a tough qualifying round on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
The team driver started his Valencia race from 18th place on the grid. He really worked hard during the race and successfully scored four points for the team.
After the race, the Spaniard added, “This result is a reward I am happy to give them. Even though I still struggle to get the best out of the tyres in qualifying, I feel I now have a much better understanding of how to use them in the race and that's definitely
the best way round as the points are only given out after the race!”
He admitted that his car’s pace was quite good during the Valencia race. The Toro Rosso driver further added that the new Pirelli medium compounds were supportive for him in the European Grand Prix.
Alguersuari told the media that all the new upgrades, which were delivered to the 2011 car ahead of the European Grand Prix, fared well during the Valencia race.
He also admitted that the team mechanics did a good job over the race weekend, especially during the Friday Free Practice sessions, when he had some problems in his car.
Apart from that, his teammate Sebastien Buemi finished his race in the 13th spot for the team. After the race, he talked to the media and congratulated his teammate Jaime for having a good race result in Valencia.
Buemi discussed his European race performance and said, “Now, immediately after the race, I'm not sure why I was not quick enough, as after the first stint I could no longer match my team-mate's times, so we will have to look at the data.” So, I am a bit
disappointed, but we can sort it out.”
After a successful European Grand Prix, Toro Rosso are expecting better performances from their drivers in the upcoming race weekends. Let’s see how they fare.
