Jaime Alguersuari not worried about 2011
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari began his Formula 1 journey last season with Red Bull’s sister team Toro Rosso. Jaime raced for just 8 races in 2009 but in 2010, the young Spanish gave a full season performance for the team, and quite an average one
as well as he secured just 5 points to secure the 16th place in the drivers’ standings.
Jaime was surprised after his team recently published that they have still not decided their drivers’ line up for the 2010 Formula 1 season. He insists that he is going to be on the Formula 1 grid in 2011 with Toro Rosso and the team also announced at a
number of occasions that they will keep both of their drivers for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team revealed that even though they did not mention both of their drivers on FIA’s official drivers’ list, they are pretty sure that their line-up for 2011 will remain unchanged.
“Because I'm thinking about leaving F1 for music. I am with Toro Rosso, for sure. I don't know why people are playing this game - I am in Formula One, 100%,” joked Jaime after he was asked why his team did not mention his name in the driver’ line-up.
He vows to become one of the top ten drivers in 2011 and score at least some points each race.
“I want to keep doing the work we have been doing and above all to finish seventh or eighth in the constructors' championship. The team and I gave everything this year. We didn't have the car for any more. On a personal level I'm happy with myself and I
hope that in 2011 we can keep improving,” he added.
Jaime Alguersuari believes that he has what it takes to become the best in the sport and he hopes to become a part of Red Bull Racing team in two years time. However, he is aware that he will have to give an outstanding performance in order to achieve that
goal.
“I sense that McLaren will have a great car next year, I don't know why. I think Hamilton can win. Ferrari's will also be great. I see the title between Fernando and Lewis and Red Bull surely also there and very competitive,” he said.
