Jaime Alguersuari says Sebastien Buemi at fault for Nick Heidfeld’s car damage – Formula 1
Red Bull Toro Rosso’s driver, Jaime Alguersuari, has recently stated that his team-mate, Sebastien Buemi, is to be blamed for the damage Nick Heidfeld received to his car at the Australian Grand Prix’s race this past Sunday.
“I would definitely have scored some points. But a Toro Rosso hit me in turns 10 and 11 and I lost 1.5 seconds every lap,” Heidfeld told the media.
Both of the Toro Rosso drivers have been blaming each other for the incident since the past couple of days. On the other hand, Jaime himself was also involved in a collision with Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes as a result of which the seven time world champion
had to retire from the first race of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Other than that, Renault’s Nick Heidfeld stated that his race was ruined after he got hit by either Jaime Alguersuari or Sebastien Buemi before sustaining some heavy damage on the sidepod of his car during the first lap of the race.
“I hit with Schumacher, but for Heidfeld I am not responsible. I was right behind and saw exactly what happened. Seb [Buemi] was in corner ten fighting with the Renault and he hit him at corner 11,” Alguersuari said.
Alguersuari released this statement soon after Buemi stated that he was annoyed with his teammate for the contact at the first corner of the Albert Park track claiming that it was Jaime’s fault.
“It's not the first time it has happened, so I think we will be having a chat about it,” Buemi said.
Toro Rosso’s reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo drove the STR6 during the first Friday free practice session in Melbourne and since the team is appreciating his performance a lot since he signed with the team for the 20111 Formula 1 season, both Alguersuari
and Buemi are aware that their seats are under threat and in order to retain their seats, they will have to give some good statistical performances and score some good points for their team.
