Jaime Garcia a ray of hope for the St. Louis Cardinals – MLB World Series Update
The St. Louis Cardinals’ manager on Wednesday, October 26 Tony La Russa envisaged a strong appearance and play from Jaime in Game 6 of the World Series. As rain washed away the game, it must have provided a breather to the Cardinals’ starter to pitch with
more mental and physical preparedness on Thursday.
"Jaime is going to pitch," La Russa said, referring to left-hander Jaime Garcia, "and we've got to do everything we can to win the game."
While the game is expected to make plain the fate of the Series, the encounter is ostensibly between Colby Lewis of the Texas Rangers and Jaime Garcia. The two had already faced each other in Game 2 whereby the Cardinals lost 2-1.
Interestingly, there is availability of all the starters for Game 6 if need be. From Kyle Lohse to Edwin Jackson to the ultimate winner Chris Carpenter, the Cardinals could opt for any pitcher. However, Tony La Russa wants to stick to Garcia.
Carpenter can be a strong choice to employ, given the fact that the Cardinals will be out if the Texas Rangers win Game 6. But the Cardinals have reposed their confidence in this starter, expecting a good result at the end.
Game 2 has several lessons for the Cardinals to learn. Garcia had almost done it for the team when the last inning fiasco shattered all their hopes. Motte gave up two runs that not only brought back the Rangers in the game but also gave them a victory.
“It helps a little bit, but at the same time, you put that in the past already," Garcia said of drawing lessons from his Game 2 start. "You don't want to think that because that happened once, that's going to happen again."
With Tony La Russa hopeful that Garcia will do the impossible, the starter has to go a long way to not only prove his worth but also decide the fate of the Cardinals. It will be interesting to watch Garcia carry the Cardinals as they battle it out with the
Rangers in the must win Game 6.
