Jaime Garcia looking to hop the Cardinals to a tie in World Series
18 teams have come back from a 3 – 2 standing in the World Series to lift the ultimate trophy. Surprisingly, the St. Louis Cardinals have been that team on four occasions. Now the same team has a chance to repeat that honour again. However, they need one
man to get the club a chance at Game 7 in the tournament. Jaime Garcia talked to the press on Tuesday, October 25, about his mentality in heading to the upcoming Game 6 encounter against the Texas Rangers at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
The Cards need Garcia to pick up a win and he looks like the best candidate for the job at hand. The hurler was disappointing in the post season, before the World Series encounter in Game 2. Pitching up against Texas hurler, Colby Lewis, Garcia went for
seven innings, conceding just three hits and one walk.
Before the Texas game, Garcia had an earning runs average of 7.27 from three postseason games. From the encounters, he stood on 0 – 2. After his Game 2 performance, his earning runs average has fallen to 3.97. The player talked about his recent form.
"It's a process, a learning process," Garcia said on Tuesday. "This is only my second full year in the big leagues, and I learned so many things during the regular season. So I feel like in the playoffs, I feel good physically. At the same time, I made some
adjustments in my mechanics, being more repetitive and more consistent instead of trying to do too much or all the little things that I've been working on.
"So I've been feeling really good. I've been able to do the things that I want to do every time I go out there."
The pitcher clarified that at times, things tend to go your way but on occasions, it goes the other way. Nevertheless he feels confident about himself now and that is something the Cards would want from their premier pitcher in Game 6 against a focused ball
thrower like Colby Lewis.
The Cards want to force a Game 7. They’re only hope is of Garcia pitching well and emulating his Game 2 performance.
