Women’s Singles campaigner Adelia Safitri cleared second hurdle in the qualifying round of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open by stamping Ingel on May 14, 2012.
The 40-minute contest proved real test of their mental and physical fitness as both girls had to sweat hard in three exhausting sets before reading final results of 21-19, 18-21 and 21-12.
Though, Adelia Safitri sealed a 2-1 victory but she had to face strong resistance from an inexperienced but talented opponent who earned great respect for her fighting spirit.
In the opening game, both contenders snapped each other’s heels to clinch first match point. They did not allow each other to gain a comfortable lead until last moments.
Adelia opened her marathon by bagging some quick points but she committed some fatal errors which helped her opponent to narrow the gap.
At mid-game break, Adelia managed to have a slight edge by entering total of 11 points in score log.
After one-minute interval, the opposing shuttler Ingel accelerated her pace and caught her competitor with some uninterrupted rallies. She dominated the set until game point situation but couple of miss shots triggered the collapse.
Adelia Safitri did not miss this opportunity and wrapped the show by registering a decent margin of 21-19.
Next game was also played at same speed. This time the losing shuttler of first set Ingel played positive badminton and showed elevated craft to avoid a straight-set defeat.
In first half of the set, Adelia relished the psychological advantage and kept her challenger at the lower end but her dominance was short lived as Ingel rose on her toes after few rallies.
She placed a decent total of 11 points to establish an upper hand before the half time and then she maintained this advantage also in later part of the game.
Only once she got in trouble when Adelia made a swift progress with some continuous points but she levelled the match score by putting a convincing margin of 21-18.
However, this second set win could not help Ingel to avoid a woeful exit as she got pale in third and final set of the match.
The decider completely belonged to Adelia as she stole the limelight with 21-12 score on the board.
