Jakarta Open 2012: Alamsyah Yunus escapes defeat from Gary in Men’s Singles second round
Indonesia’s elite shuttler Alamsyah Yunus remained luck as he narrowly escaped from a shocking defeat in Men’s Singles second round when he managed to beat the lower ranked Gary in three games at the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 on Wednesday,
May 16, in Indonesia.
Yunus, who is top seed in Men’s Singles second round, had to dig into his reserves to chuck out Gary in a thrilling three-set fight with a dramatically narrow score on the board.
The higher ranked Yunus won the first game but lost the second one. However, he managed to win the final set with a tight score and advanced into the next round.
On the other hand, Gary surprised the crowd as he put up spectacular show while playing against his higher ranked experienced opponent in the whole contest but remained unlucky in the ending points and lost the match with a respectable score.
In the first set, Yunus played with precision and remained dominant in the court. He was playing with a wonderful easy and made his un-seeded opponent moving around in the court.
Until the one-minute break, the higher ranked Yunus was leading the game with a decent margin on the board.
After the break, Yunus continued playing positive badminton and remained successful in winning the set with a five-point margin of 21-16.
In the second game, Yunus received a shocking treatment from Gary who was playing attacking badminton.
Yunus tried to take over the control but failed to stop the aggressive performance of his lower ranked compatriot and remained struggling behind on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yunus tried his best to level the score but failed to control the rallies and lost the set with a huge margin of 15-21.
In the deciding set, both shuttlers played impressive badminton and also progressed equally on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yunus tried his best to take a comfortable lead but failed as his opponent was also impressive in the court.
However, at the ending points, Yunus showed up his elite skills and managed to win the set with a tight 21-19 score on the board.
Yunus narrowly wrapped up this fight in three games by a thrilling margin of 21-16, 15-21 and 21-19.
