Jakarta Open 2012: Anthony Ginting tames Andrew Susanto to surge into Men’s Singles quarter-final
Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting continued his positive performance and surged into Men’s Singles quarter-final after taming Andrew Susanto in round-of-16 clash at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 at Jakarta, Indonesia, on Friday, May 18.
Anthony, who has been seeded at number 8 in Men’s Singles category in the tournament, put up staggering show and hammered his rival in straight games without facing any trouble in the entire fight.
The higher ranked Anthony was flawless in his game plan as he played with remarkable precision and won both games in just 25 minutes with a comprehensive margin on the board.
On the other hand, the 9th seeded Andrew could not manage to put up strong show against Anthony and crashed out in straight games without impressing his home fans.
In the first game, the higher ranked Anthony showed his impressive class by playing to his maximum potential and did not face any interruption from his rival in taking an early lead.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Andrew could not match the pace of rallies and also failed to keep a good balance in the game.
The in-form Anthony was sailing smoothly in the opening half of first set and managed a tremendous lead until the mid-game break.
After the interval, Anthony continued dominating the game while remaining fully focused in the court and easily wrapped up the opening set with a comprehensive 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Anthony opened his run in the game as he played composed badminton and remained ahead on the board.
On the other hand, Andrew tried his best but failed to get rid of aggressive play of his higher ranked rival.
Until the mid-game interval, the higher ranked Indonesian was miles ahead of his rival on the score board.
After the break, Anthony continued his positive play without showing any respect to his team-mate and also managed a wonderful difference in the whole concluding phase.
He remained in commanding position in the whole competition and ended the second game with a 21-11 score on the board.
Anthony won this lopsided battle in straight games while taking just 25 minutes with a one-sided score of 21-10 and 21-11.
