Jakarta Open 2012: Monika Insany beats Aldika Fanisha Gea in Women’s Singles second round
Indonesia’s in-form player Monika Insany advanced into Women’s Singles round-of-16 after beating Aldika Fanisha Gea in the second round of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Indonesia, on Thursday, May 17.
The impressive Monika showed her class while playing impressive badminton and wrapped up victory over Aldika with a tight margin on the board.
Monika won the first set but failed to dominate the pace in the second game. However, she remained successful in the deciding game and bagged the battle with a close margin on the board.
On the other hand, Aldika played well in the whole match and trouble her rival by keeping the pace of rallies quite high.
Nonetheless, she remained unlucky in the ending points of deciding game and crashed out in second round.
In the first set, Monika showed impressive performance when she did not let her rival to take charge of rallies.
Both ladies played positive badminton and remained close until the end of first half in opening set.
After the break, Monika became quicker at net and also created opportunities to stretch her lead. She proceeded in the right direction and won the first set with a margin of 21-16.
In the second set, it was a completely different story when Aldika showed her brilliance as she played flawless game this time and managed to take a superb lead until the break.
After the interval, Monika tried to change her tactics but failed to put up good show and lost the game with a big margin of 13-21.
In the deciding set, both ladies showed their impressive skills and also remained toe-to-toe until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Aldika played remarkable badminton and did not let her rival to take lead at any stage.
The score reached at the ending phase when Monika changed her game plan and played with variations which helped her to take the ending points with a decent 21-18 margin on the score board.
The in-form Monika emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles second round contest with a thrilling difference of 21-16, 13-21 and 21-18.
