Jakarta Open 2012: Reza Romadhon tames Mahardika Saputra Tato in Men’s Singles second round
Indonesia’s upcoming player Reza Romadhon proved his mettle when he tamed his team-mate Mahardika Saputra Tato in Men’s Singles second round at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Indonesia, on Wednesday, May 16.
Romadhon, who is 11th seed in Men’s Singles draw of the competition, showed his supremacy in the court when he did not show any mercy to his opponent and wrapped up victory in a sensational fashion.
The higher ranked Romadhon was in his prime form while playing against his compatriot and finished up the match in straight games while taking just 27 minutes.
On the other hand, Mahardika played competitive badminton in both sets but failed to put up good show in ending points and lost both games with a respectable score on the board.
Romadhon played impressive badminton in all of his matches and continued his winning run while playing against Mahardika.
In the first set, both Indonesians played with impressive speed in the court and also pushed each other in all areas of the court.
The higher ranked Romadhon tried to take an early advantage but failed to create gaps and remained struggling to find a finishing touch in his shots.
Until the one-minute break, both men showed their elevated class and remained close on the board.
After the break, the score continued in a tight fashion and reached at the ending points when Romadhon displayed a phenomenal show of flawless badminton and wrapped up opening game with a close margin of 21-19.
In the following set, both men again played at the same level in opening rallies but Romadhon took over the control and built a decent gap until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Romadhon extended the gap by playing smart badminton. He remained fully focused and did not let his rival to get into dominating position.
The higher ranked Indonesian remained on the right track in the ending phase of second set and ended it with a 21-17 score on the board.
Romadhon won this Men’s Singles straight-set battle in just 27 minutes by a decent score of 21-19 and 21-17.
