Jakarta Open 2012: Rina Andriani tames Monika Sandia in Women’s Singles pre-quarter-final clash
Indonesia’s talented player Rina Andriani stretched her winning run and reached at the top-eight stage as she ousted Monika Sandia in Women’s Singles pre-quarter-final battle at the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Indonesia, on Friday, May 18.
Andriani, who is seeded at number 2 in Women’s Singles seeding, worked really hard and managed to register victory over Monika in a hard-fought three games by taking 40 minutes in the court.
The higher ranked Andriani remained impressive in all of her matches and continued her roller-coaster run at in the round-of-16 by winning the battle in rubber games.
On the other hand, Monika also put up gutsy performance and troubled her higher ranked challenger by taking the second game.
However, she could not cope up with the class of her rival and lost the final set easily and crashed out at the round-of-16 stage.
In the first game, both shuttlers started to play fast badminton in opening rallies but it was Andriani played with wonderful aggression and managed a superb lead until the break.
After the interval, she continued playing flawless badminton and did not show any mercy to Monika in the concluding phase and took the set with by a tremendous 21-13 score on the board.
In the second game, both shuttlers entertained the crowd by playing to their maximum potential and remained close on the score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Andriani tried to take lead but failed to play dominating game and eventually lost the set with a tight score of 20-22.
In the deciding game, it was the higher ranked Andriani took over the charge of rallies in the opening points and managed to set up sensational lead until the mid-game break.
After the interval, the second seeded Andriani continued playing focused game and did not let her lower ranked rival to catch up at any stage.
Andriani remained ahead of her challenger in the whole set and won it with a remarkable 21-11 margin on the score board.
The in-form Andriani won this Women’s Singles fight in three sets with a difference of 21-13, 20-22 and 21-11.
