Jakarta Open 2012: Saehul Islam slaughters Gilang Yudha Kusuma in Men’s Singles first round
Indonesia’s Saehul Islam started his campaign in a striking fashion as he slaughtered his country-mate Gilang Yudha Kusuma in Men’s Singles first round at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 15.
Saehul, who is fifth seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles draw of Jakarta Open, proved his supremacy in the court as he played with control and managed to register an easy victory over Gilang.
The higher ranked Saehul was miles ahead of his opponent in all aspects of the game and he did not face even a slight resistance from Gilang in the opening-round contest and won the match in straight games.
On the other hand, Gilang tried to play competitive badminton in opening rallies but failed to match the skills of his rival and lost the fight in a one-sided manner in just 25 minutes.
In the first game, Saehul showed urgency as he played attacking badminton and took a superb lead at the early stage.
The higher ranked Indonesian was in full swing as he did not let his challenger to play his normal game and set up a remarkable gap in the opening half of first game.
After the one-minute break, Saehul continued his staggering performance without dropping the speed and managed to win the set with a completely one-sided margin of 21-6.
In the second set, Gilang tried to play fast badminton but he could not control the pace and also failed to return the perfectly placed shots of his opponent.
Until the 60-second break in the second set, the higher ranked Saehul was sailing far ahead on the board.
After the interval, Gilang almost gave up as he was helpless against the positive and aggressive play of his opponent.
Saehul was focused in the game and he dictated Gilang in all areas of the court. He did not slow down at any stage and wrapped up the set with a remarkable 21-7 margin on the score board.
The fifth seeded Saehul emerged as the winner of this 25-minute Men’s Singles first round clash with a stunning margin of 21-6 and 21-7.
