Alamsyah Yunus, an elite shuttler in Indonesian squad, had to work really hard in the final match and he emerged as the winner of Men’s Singles title at DJARUM SIRKUIT NASIONAL Li Ning Jakarta Open 2013.
In the final encounter, the top seeded Yunus played to his maximum potential and managed to beat the second seeded Indonesian shuttler Senatria Agus Setia P in a narrow fashion on Saturday, May 18, in Jakarta.
Yunus tried to play good badminton but failed to win the opening game. However, he made a strong comeback and wrapped up the following sets to wind up the match in straight games with reasonable margin of 20-22, 21-5 and 21-15.
On the contrary, Senatria Agus provided a wonderful resistance to his experienced opponent and snatched the opening game. However, he failed to continue his aggressive run in following sets and lost the match in a respectable way.
In the first game, both players started their run in a thrilling manner as they played attacking badminton and remained close on the board.
Until the one-minute break, both players kept the crowd engaged by playing top quality badminton but no one could manage a comfortable lead.
After the break, the contest continued in the similar thrilling manner and the score reached at 20-20 when Yunus lost his focus and eventually lost the opening game with margin of 20-22.
However, it a completely different game in the following set when Yunus changed his tactics and occupied the driving seat. He played with staggering precision and took a huge lead in the opening half.
After the break, the higher ranked Indonesian shuttler continued his dominating run all the way and easily won the second game with a huge margin of 21-5.
In the decider, both players again locked horn and progressed closely until the end of opening half where Yunus was slightly ahead.
After the mid-game break, Yunus geared up his speed and played impressive badminton at net. He managed to push his challenger on back foot and won the final set with a comfortable 21-15 total on the score board.
