Jakarta Open: Elisabeth Purwaningtyas ousts Khalida Aulia to surge into Women’s Singles round-of-16
Indonesia’s Elisabeth Purwaningtyas displayed an elevated show of top quality badminton and surged into Women’s Singles round-of-16 after beating Khalida Aulia in second round at the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Indonesia, on Tuesday, May 15.
The in-form Elisabeth was impressive in the court when she played with precision and managed to outplay his rival without losing any set in the contest.
Elisabeth proved too strong for Khalida as she did not show any mercy and ended the match in two games with a remarkable margin on the score board.
On the other hand, Khalida tried to play competitive badminton but could not cope up with the speed of his rival and lost the battle in two sets.
In the opening set of this contest, both ladies started in an aggressive way as they executed powerful smashes from the opening points and also remained close on the board.
Elisabeth tried to play dominating badminton but failed to take a considerable lead until the end of first half.
After the break, Elisabeth changed his tactics of play and started to work well at net. She managed a reasonable lead while remaining focused in the court.
In the concluding phase of opening set, Elisabeth showed impressive performance and took the opening set with a decent 21-17 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Khalida tried to put up strong show but could not produce powerful shots.
She also committed a few unforced errors which helped his challenger to set up remarkable lead until the mid-game interval.
In the meanwhile, Elisabeth was composed in the court as she did not lose her focus at any stage and remained in full control of the pace.
After the interval, Elisabeth continued playing at her maximum speed and also remained on the driving seat.
On the other hand, Khalida tried to put up strong resistance but could not reduce the deficit.
The in-form Elisabeth was in her prime form and ended the second game with a one-sided margin of 21-13.
Elisabeth emerged as victorious against Khalida in straight games by a 21-17 and 21-13 score on the board.
