Jake Arrieta shines as the Baltimore Orioles take over the Detroit Tigers in fourth win
Things seem to be progressing well for the Baltimore Orioles who punched their fourth win of the Major League Baseball season on Monday. Their encounter at home came up against the Detroit Tigers from the American League Central region. The match looked
to be going well for both teams before the hosts’ Brian Roberts smashed a three run homer. It was Jake Arrieta who would eventually tie the Tigers down with his pitching, as the club won by 5 – 1.
The 25-year-old pitcher joined the ranks of Zach Britton, Chris Tillman, and Jeremy Guthrie to post a collective earning runs average of .69 in the last four games. That figure obviously, excludes the two unearned runs conceded during the campaign.
The hurler who pitched six innings against the Tigers, recently, posted an earning runs average of 1.50 in his first win of the season. With three strikeouts, the only risky concessions came in the hits and the walks he gave up. With two walks and six hits,
he was rather lucky to only concede a run.
With the Orioles in the best position at the moment, the ball thrower believes the club has a poppy crop like talent base that is maturing fast.
"We're aware of the talent we have," Arrieta said. "If we go out there and pitch and keep our team in the game, it's only a matter of time before we put some runs on the board. Somebody's going to have the hot hand."
The pitcher was also content with the way things turned up at the home field.
"I don't think there's a better feeling in the world than the feeling you get when you toe the rubber Opening Day in your home stadium," said Arrieta. "[It was] just a great feeling from start to finish."
In the end, the pitcher summed up the day in the best way he thought possible.
"It was a great day," Arrieta said. "[It's] fun to be part of this team right now."
The Pitcher further told the press that he was really excited about the direction the team was taking at the moment.
