Jake Baggaley seizes Boys 200m breaststroke gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Jake Baggaley of Trinity Grammar occupied gold medal of the Boys 200m breaststroke in 17 to 18-year-olds category on day two of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Wednesday, April 10.
The 17-year-old Baggaley demonstrated his astonishing pace in the 200m discipline as he cruised his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal. With his impeccable pace and strong commitment, he managed to outperform his closest swimmer for first position.
He faced tough competition from his following swimmer over the finishing end and posted a time of 2 minutes and 16.01 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Jul Layton of New Zealand, who was 0.84 seconds slower from his closest competitor and rushed the wall for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.85 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Tyrone Dobrunz of Tigersharks, who was 0.97 seconds slower from his former finisher and hit the wall for third position with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.82 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by James McKechnie of Starplex, who was 0.28 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.10 seconds for fourth place.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Robert Evans of Peel Aquatic, who was 1.38 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and emerged on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.48 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Jesse King of Forster Aquatic, who was 1.17 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minute and 19.65 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Liam Rayfield of St Peters Western, who was only half body length behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 20.03 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Benjamin McDermott of MLC Marlins, who was 1.56 seconds slower and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 21.59 seconds.
In addition, Baggaley collected his accolades at the prize ceremony of the event.
