Jake Ellenberger: I want to avenge my UFC debut loss by nailing Carlos Condit – UFC news
Jake Ellenberger is eager to get his hands on Carlos Condit. In a recent interview, he said that he can and wants to avenge his loss to the American sensation.
Jake recently collected his sixth straight win by nailing Diego Sanchez while constituting the headline event of the pay-per-view UFC on Fuel TV1. Jake made his UFC debut against Carlos Condit and that was the only bout which the ‘Juggernaut’ lost. Since
then Jake has been on a winning streak and has pinned many emphatic and prolific brawlers in the octagon.
Jake’s demand to clash with Carlos is obvious. He wants to prove that he just made a mistake while analysing and applying the appropriate moves and strategy. It must be kept in mind that in the three-round skirmish held in the month of September 2009, Jake
overwhelmed Carlos in the first round but later on due to exhaustion lost his edge which enabled the Natural Born Killer to go for the kill.
Carlos won that brawl by a split decision and since then Jake has been waiting for the appropriate moment. Carlos while sharing his thoughts with Heavy.com said, “I think I can beat Carlos Condit, and that's really the fight I want. That's the fight I'm
hoping and praying for - but it's not my decision. It's absolutely what I want, though. I've fought him before, and now I'm a completely different fighter. I know I can beat him and it's definitely the fight I want.”
Ellenberger was of the view that holding an interim title means nothing; it is just a belt to wear round your waist. Jake commented that unless and until you beat the king of the division the interim gold gives you nothing and the king is George St. Pierre.
While putting forth his future ambition Jake clearly mentioned that his first and foremost target is Carlos Condit since he just wants to avenge his UFC careers only loss and above all wants to prove the division that he is the best and can tame the Natural
Born Killer.
Jake continued and said that for him Carlos’ interim welterweight title means nothing. He excitedly said that unless and until he stands against GSP in the octagon and nails him he will not be declared as the champion of the welterweight division and this
is the task he has in his mind, to become the welterweight champion.
Jake went head on with Diego Sanchez, the Nightmare, on February 15, 2012 in a non-title brawl. The bout was so much praised that it was honoured the fight of the night award.
