Jake Ellenberger ensures he will not get tired this time – UFC News
Jake Ellenberger is scheduled to face Martin Kampmann at ‘The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale’ this Friday. Unlike his previous matches, this time Jake will be going for two extra rounds against his opponent. Since Jake has a history of being a victim of fatigue,
his fans are worried as to what he will do this time. However, Ellenberger has assured that fatigue will not be a problem this time as he is in good shape and condition.
Last time, when Jake went one on one against Diego Sanchez in February, he dominated the initial rounds but by the end, he was tired enough to easily fall victim to Diego’s submission move. Similarly, he lost in 2009 against Carlos Condit via decision. By
the third round, it was apparent that Jake was tired and could not move on.
When asked about the situation, Ellenberger said, “The thing about that [Sanchez] fight is he got me in a bad situation. He’s a phenomenal fighter. He’s a phenomenal grappler. My shape felt good. I got out of the position. I feel like I could have gone five
if I had to. There’s a difference between getting tired and gassing. If you’re gassing, you’re conditioning is wrong. If you’re getting tired, you’re working and trying to finish the fight. I’m always trying to finish the fight. It’s going to take a lot of
work to finish a fight. I think this should be a No. 1 contender fight. I’ve fought some of the best guys in the division and Jake has been on a tear as well. It’s all up in the air with the GSP injury and Condit having the interim title.”
According to Ellenberger, he has taken care of the situation and it will not happen again. It should be noted here that Ellenberger was being considered amongst the most promising UFC fighters but after his negligence towards training and conditioning, which
eventually led him to fatigue and losses, he lost his position. As of now, Jake needs to make a comeback to the scenario and get back on the top, where he once was.
