Jake Hecht beats Rich Attonito by a technical knockout in UFC debut – UFC 140 Recap
On December 10, 2011, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada. The welterweight bout of the night was fought between two American mixed martial art (MMA) fighters Jake Hecht and Rich Attonito.
UFC debutant, Hecht, won the bout by a technical knockout (TKO) in the second round of the fight.
As the first round began, both fighters threw some punches. Hecht went for a leg kick in the early goings of the bout but Attonito was swift in countering the kick. Hecht continuously kicked his way into the fight, looking for
an opportunity to strike hard. As Hecht was focused on the onslaught, Attonito was also looking for an opening. He did find a slight chance. As Hecht was attacking and throwing his kicks, Attonito caught his opponent with a big right hand punch.
It did connect with Hecht’s face but the angle of the punch was such that it did not have much impact. Attonito came back after losing his focus slightly. He was again concentrating on his kicks and one such kick did made its way
through Hecht’s defences and struck him with force. Attonito fell on the mat but he did manage to defend himself by preventing Hecht in coming close for an attack. The first round ended with Hecht trying to guard himself from Attonito’s possible attack.
When both fighters entered into the second round, both were closer in their stance and start throwing their punches in all directions. The 34-year-old Attonito was taking an offensive stance as he threw a strong hook punch which
was an impactful one, taking Hecht by surprise.  In the second round, Attonito was primarily focusing on taking down Hecht.
Both fighters were trying to find that one moment to put their opponent on the mat. Attonito found the moment and went for a takedown. It was a powerful move but Hecht barely managed to stay on his feet. When Hecht came back on
his feet, he immediately started his elbow attack that took Attonito by surprise.
The elbow strikes were effective and on target, which took down Attonito. The UFC debutant Hecht kept his strikes going on until the referee came in between and stopped the bout. Hecht made a successful UFC debut by winning the
bout through a technical knockout (TKO) over Attonito in the second round.
