Jake Keough, Theresa Cliff-Ryan win Downtown Walterboro Criterium race – Cycling news
Jake Keough of United-Health Care team won the classic Downtown Walterboro Criterium race in South Carolina.
He left behind his fellow teammate Hilton Clarke, who had finished first in the previous stage. Ricky Escuela of the Full Circle Sports team was in third place behind Hilton Clarke.
At the start of the race, Jake Keough had taken a lap on the field with three riders, including his teammate Hilton Clarke, Andrew Dahlheim of the Development Bissell Pro Cycling team, Raymond Kreder of the Chipotle team and a number of other riders.
After seven laps of the Downtown Walterboro Criterium, the group of seven riders managed to get away in the race. All of them also gained a lap on the field. In the stage, United Health Care team showed an excellent performance and was also the best representative
of the elite break.
In last five laps of the race, Jake Keough was in good form and crossed the finish line ahead of the other riders.
Jake Keough was at the ninth spot in first part of the race and won the second stage as an overall leader. He also grabbed 12th position in the third part of the race.
In the women’s category, Theresa Cliff-Ryan of the Colavita Forno D’Asolo cycling team again won the Downtown Walterboro Criterium race. Previously, she won the first two stages in the race and grabbed a second position in the third part of the race.
Erica Allar of the RideClean-Patentit team was in second place. Laura Van Glider performed well but could only manage to finish third.
In the last five laps of the race, Theresa Cliff-Ryan was joined by Laura Van Gilder of the Mellow Mushroom Team. Both of them worked together to hold off the chasing packs and took a lead over the RideClean-Patentit team. However, in the final three laps
of the race, Laura was left behind by Cliff-Ryan.
With the help of her Colavita team, Theresa Cliff crossed the finish line without any difficulty and won the race.
