Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jake-Livermore-c17604 has revealed he is confident his side will defeat Fulham in the English Premier League on Sunday to finish third.
If Harry Redknapp’s men manage a win against Fulham, current third place http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 will need all three points from their game against West Bromwich Albion to retain their spot. The pressure is on both sides to secure a UEFA Champions League spot for next season.
The 22-year-old Livermore has managed to make it to the first team this season and is desperate to play a role for his side so they are able to qualify for the European competition next season. He revealed the team was confident of making it to the Champions
League in the new term.
Livermore said in an interview:
“The lads are confident and we're all looking forward to putting in a big performance.
These are the games all us Tottenham players want to be involved in, fighting for a place in the Champions League.”
Livermore began his career with Tottenham Hotspur youth side in 2006, graduating to the senior side in 2008. Since then he has been on loan to various sides like Milton Keynes Dons, Crewe Alexandra, Derby County, Peterborough United, Ipswich Town and Leeds
United.
He returned in the summer of 2011 and has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, along with a lone goal. He was grateful for the opportunity given to him by the manager, Harry Redknapp, something which he wanted to make the most of.
He revealed:
“The manager has been great with me this season. I've played in a lot of big games, both games against Manchester United, Newcastle, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and I've had a good season but this is the final crunch now and it would be great to be involved.”
Tottenham Hotspur face former Spurs boss Martin Jol, who is now in charge at Fulham. Livermore was certain the manager would attempt to fluster the Spurs and ensure they did not get a decent result, because of which they would have to try and get an early
goal in.
Livermore continued:
“We know it will be a tough game. Martin Jol will have his team organised, so we'd love to get an early goal and build on that.”
