Jake Peavy believes Chicago White Sox still capable of making Championship run – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy is expecting positive results for his team in the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Present at the White Sox annual event, “SoxFest”, he gave a detail interview to a renowned sports reporter and stated for his team with full excitement as they still posses the level of competitiveness to out-do every big team.
Peavy said, “It’s not like we have no shot. We have some very talented players on this team and are very capable of making a run. When expectations are down, you can sneak up on people.”
Jake, who played tremendously last season with an ERA of 4.92 along with 7-7 win-loss record, 95 strike-outs and 1.26 WHIP, certainly seemed motivate when he further spoke for his new manager Robin Ventura. He expressed that Ventura does not have any professional baseball managing experience in the past but his knowledge and in-depth vision for the game is remarkable.
Peavy added for Ventura, “Robin’s professionalism and stability at the top will steady the ship. We’re going to play good, hard baseball. No reason with our talent we can’t contend.”
He later also recognised the fact that the White Sox might not look as perfect as they were in 2011 with Mark Buehrle’s presence but still it does not take away the chance of ending up in the postseason or further in 2012.
The White Sox general manager Kenny Williams on the other hand, seems all right even as their main striking pitcher has gone to another MLB team. His reply to all the reporters was well-brought-up as he showed some great confidence over his 40-man roster.
Williams said, “I like our team evidently a lot better than some others. We got a starting pitching staff that I’m confident in. We’ll play good defense. We’re going to need some bounce-back from our veteran guys if we’re going to compete.”
Nevertheless, in entire White Sox management camp, a new hope and anticipation in the whole franchise, but to perform on a high level Major League season, they will want to play as one unit for achieving all mentioned possible positive results next season.
