"He still wanted it. I trust him," White Sox Manager Ventura said of Peavy.
Relief pitcher Addison Reed pitched the scoreless ninth for his 18th save.
"Just wanted to make it more interesting," said Reed with a smile on his face.
"One thing with the Whities: They have a good pitching staff, and you're going to face some tough pitchers. Doesn't matter which one they throw out there, including Liriano. It's going to be a battle scoring runs," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.
Twins looked in excellent form in Game 1 as they edged the White Sox 7-6 to take a crucial 1-0 lead in the series. As they have done on a number of occasions this season, the White Sox fought back brilliantly in Game 2 to level series 1-1.
