Jake Peavy sparks as Chicago White Sox defeat Minnesota Twins 7-0 - MLB Update

Chicago White Sox starter, Jake Peavy had an extraordinary day with the ball as he presented just three hits in his eight score-less innings and gave the White Sox a convincing 7-0 win against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field, Minnesota on August 7.
The batters failed to score runs while the pitchers were dominating with their impressive throws and overcome the batters in the first inning. At the top of the first inning, Juan Pierre reached towards short-stop position on an infield single while at the
centre-field, Paul Konerko flied out as Pierre also got out at second base.
Similarly, Twins’ catcher, Joe Mauer doubled towards deep left-field at the bottom of the first inning but Denard Span struck-out looking and at second base Ben Revere grounded out as Michael Cuddyer also grounded out but at short-stop position without the
addition of any run on the score-board.
White Sox got off the mark in the second inning when Brent Lillibridge hit a solo homer (403 feet) towards left-field to give his team a 1-0 lead. The pitchers were again on top during the third inning by throwing the fastballs in a right line. The White
Sox batters posted three runs in the fourth inning to get a 4-0 lead.
Konerko homered (382 feet) towards left-field to score his first run. Carlos Quentin put the second run during the fourth inning when Alex Rios doubled off deep left-centre. The third run was taken by Rios when Brent Morel hit a grounder into fielder’s choice
towards second base. In the fifth and sixth inning, the batters played slothful hits and got out.
Peavy did not allow any walk and pitched his respective eight innings with an ERA of 4.63. He was able to strike-out six batters on his 108 pitches. Peavy said, “We're going to grind things out. That's a testament to these guys who have not mailed it in.”
Alexei Ramirez struck a two-run homer (384 feet) towards left-field while Morel scored a single run to raise the White Sox lead 6-0 in the seventh inning. The White Sox led off 7-0 during the eighth inning when Rios homered (378 feet) to left-field. As a
result, the White Sox were able to sweep the Twins 3-0 in their three-game series played at Target Field.
