Jake Shields scores unanimous victory against Ed Herman – UFC News
American mixed martial artists Jake Shields scored a unanimous victory in his comeback fight against Ed Herman at UFC 150 past Saturday. Shields, who had a rough patch in his career when he shifted to light middleweight, is finally back on the line at the
middleweight division, as the American promised.
Round one started off with Shields’ leg kick. Both fighters were in the attack mode. Shields was trying his level best to land his vicious kicks while Herman was focusing on taking Shields down with his big hooks. Right in the first round, Herman attempted
a takedown but it was countered by Shields. Shields tried a submission manoeuvre but Herman was able to counter it. Just before the round ended, Shields delivered a knee shot to Herman’s body, a choke attempt and a takedown attempt. However, Herman was able
to stay in his senses, pushing Shields against the fences.  The round ended with Shields’ knee shot to Herman. First round scored by Shields with 10-9.
Round two started with a takedown from Shields, landing some elbows and working in side control. Herman escaped a kimura from Shields but could not escape the takedown. Herman tried his best to hit Shields with some vicious elbows while on his back but Shields
was in total control, attacking and defending himself well. The round ended with 10-9 for Shields.
Round three starts with Herman being the aggressor, pushing Shields against the cage. Herman was able to drop Shields with a hip toss after missing a huge uppercut. However, once Shields was on his toes, Herman delivered yet another huge uppercut that connected
pretty well. Shields goes for takedown and keeps Herman down for the rest of the round. The round again ends 10-9 for Shields.
Final scores of the fight were 29-28, 30-27, 30-27, declaring Shields the winner.
Shields, who last week claimed Herman is a threat to his career, won the showdown pretty smoothly. As of now, Shields will be moving onto pursue a title shot against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. However, he probably will have to grab some more
victories before he gets the title shot.
