Jake Tapp wins Men’s 200m IM gold: Day four – Canadian Summer Nationals
Jake Tapp of LOSC won gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on final day of the 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals at the Edmonton Kinsmen Sport Centre in Edmonton on Sunday, July 22.
Tapp continued his winning streak on the fourth night of the championship as he stifled hopes of his competitors by snaring gold medal of the swim.
The 23-year-old Tapp enjoyed a lead of half body length over his subsequent rival and made his way to the finishing blockade for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 03.01 seconds.
His gold winning struggle remained 0.66 seconds faster from Bogdan Knezevic of Serbia, who secured silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 03.67 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Hassaan Abdel-Khalik of ESWIM, who remained 1.12 seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand as third position holder by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 04.79 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was secured by Jonathan Brown of NCSA, who remained 0.19 seconds slower from upsetting his former finisher and ended his race with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.98 seconds.
Similarly, Brown was followed by Mack Darragh of OAK, who stayed 0.26 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and earned fifth fastest spot of the event by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 05.24 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by David Dimitrov of LLSC, who was 0.27 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.51 seconds.
Dimitrov was followed by Zach Summerhayes of ROW, who stayed only 0.04 seconds apart and secured seventh finest spot of the discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 05.55 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Evan White of OAK, who stayed 0.71 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 06.26 seconds.
In addition, Tapp received a huge round of applause from the crowd for his scintillating form in the tournament at the prize distribution ceremony of the event.
