Jake White to become new coach of the Brumbies - Rugby News
Former South African coach Jake White is due to take charge of Brumbies on Monday, which is currently at their lowest level in Super Rugby competition history.
The Brumbies have won just two matches in the ongoing Super Rugby championship after eleven outgoings. Jake White, who led South Africa to a World title in 2007, is hopeful to put the Australian team on a winning track.
The team had a miserable season in the matches played so far, as they remained totally unimpressive throughout the competition. They are currently placed12th position on the points tables, which is their overall worst ever performance in the Super
Rugby history. The Brumbies, who already sacked their coach Andy Friend, after the second round of the competition, are due to be handed over to White on Monday.
The current coach of Brumbies, Tony Rea has slammed his team for their continuous poor performance. He criticised his men publicly and considers the team as completely uncompetitive in the league. He further burst at the large management team and declared
them useless as he said, "We have just too many people and an organisation that makes too many soft decisions too often and now they're the bulk and the norm, it's in the wood now. We are just a mob without any fight in us when it gets tough, even if we win.
It has been since day one of pre-season, pretty much all laid bare."
The chief executive of Brumbies Andrew Fagan responded harshly towards the coach’s criticism and said he shouldn’t publicise the matter. However Fagan told the media that despite the fact, Tony Rea has failed to deliver during his tenure but would see out
the season.
Fagan further said, “What he was doing, and I have spoken with Tony today, he wanted to issue the ultimate challenge to the group and he did that publicly. They're quite regularly issued privately but he felt that privately wasn't working.”
He hoped that newly appointed Coach Jake White will help the side to retain their lost status. The Brumbies have won the Super Rugby championship twice.
