Jalen Rose gets ticketed for over speeding hours after he was sentenced over DUI charges – NBA News
The former National Basketball Association (NBA) star Jalen Rose landed himself in more trouble when he was ticketed for over speeding just hours after he was sentenced to jail over Driving under Influence (DUI).
He was caught for over speeding by a police officer and given a ticket on Wednesday night. Harry Anderson the police Chief of Clawson, Michigan, confirmed that Rose was over speeding in the suburban Detroit and was clocked driving
46 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Earlier on Wednesday morning 48th District Court Judge Kimberly announced Jalen Rose’s sentence for drunken driving. He will face up to 20 days in jail and fined $500 after pleaded guilty in the court. His original sentence
was 92 days in jail and one year of probation but Judge Kimberly reduced his sentence to just 20 days and suspended the rest of 72 days. Many prominent figures of the Detroit region also asked and requested the District Court to reduced and show more leniency
towards Jalen Rose who is a permanent resident of Detroit and planning to open up a school in the area.
Rose was first arrested on March 11, 2011 when a police officer caught him in intoxicated condition in West Bloomfield Township Michigan. Rose was drunk and lost control over his car on a snowy road and had a minor accident with
a female driver at 2.am in the morning. Though no one was injured in that accident but on duty police officer immediately appeared on the spot and suspected him for intoxication.
He asked Rose for an alcohol test but Rose refused and hesitated to take the breath test. His reluctance on giving the alcohol test led the police officer to take some serious actions. He took Rose to a local hospital where his
blood tests were taken and eventually came out the truth. Rose’s blood tests were positive and the level of alcohol in his blood was way over the limit.
The Michigan State’s limit of alcohol level in blood is 0.08 but Rose’s samples shows 0.088 level of alcohol in his blood. Nevertheless, Rose’s blood samples were telling the truth but he still resisted on these results and told
the media and said, “Although I was not feeling impaired, the results of these tests indicate that my blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.”
The next morning Rose was brought to the court where he admitted as he was certainly drunk during the time of arrest. He told everything in-front of Judge Kimberly. He said, “I'm embarrassed to say I had six drinks that evening.”
Judge Kimberly asked Rose as how big his drinks were. Rose said, “I'm embarrassed to say probably too big.”
Jalen Rose had spent very promising 13 years in the NBA and played for six different teams in the league. He is currently working as a NBA analyst for a Sports-Channel.
