I'm going to Montego Bay in a couple of days but idk how much money to take. I know the exchange rate but that does me no good when idk how much stuff costs there. my meals and stuff are paid for but i am going to want to shop when i'm there. Does anyone know from experience how much I should bring? I'll be there for 4 days or so

  1. I say bring about $500 - $700. It's better to take it and bring the rest back home than to want something and not have the money. If you don't have that much just bring what you have. You'll have fun no matter what.

  2. i would say $300 on hand along with debit or credit card

  3. It depends if your staying at and all inclusive resort, are your meals and drinks paid for? Are you dining out every meal? Do you want to go on any day trips, Dunns River Falls, Booze cruises, parasailing. Etc. I'm staying at an all inclusive resort all meals and drink are paid for. But im still going to bring about $1,000.00 for day trips and stuff

  4. First it depends on how much money you can take. On average for a 4 day vacation that is prepaid you may need $300-$500 but that is only if you plan to do a lot of shopping or outside activities.

You can also take less money and use a credit or debit card for some purchases so that you are not carrying a lot of money around.

  5. Just go with your debit/credit card.......we do use them in Jamaica....at least if it gets stolen you can cancel your card.....but always travel with emergency money.....and hide it in your luggae

  6. When I went I brought somewhere between $150-$200 and I was there for a whole week...but only shopped 3 days. But honestly it would depend on how much you want to spend and the types of things that you are planning on buying. I mean if you want jewelry...that will obviously be more expensive than some smaller souvenirs. Sometimes it is fun to go to the flee markets where they will barter with you...you can get some real cool stuff!

  7. I would say bring about $500

    500.00 USD = 35,375.00 JMD

    United States Dollars

    1 USD = 70.7500 JMD

  8. If you have a plastic card use that at the respectable places.  If you have an ATM withdraw money once you get there and get an idea how much you'll need.  If you need to take cash, take more then you need if possible so you won't see something you just have to have the last day but have no cash to buy it.  As for a $ amount, some people can spend $10/day, others $1000/day.
