I wont need to pay for any meals or drinks unless I go out of the hotel because I am going all inclusive.

Please could you help?

  1. there is no tipping at lets say Sandals or other resorts like that....taxi cost's $100.00 from Montego bay to negril one way..souveners are reasonable....cig are (the last time we were there) $5.00 a pack and very few American brands available, booze out of the resorts is reasonable, cuban cigars can run to $275.00 per box...you'll love the curbside jerk chicken/pork,  clothing and jewelry varies in different stores....Email me for other details...ok??

  2. If you don't plan to go off the resort property then $200 (US) should be plenty.  You can take cigarettes with you and, of course, your drinks as well as food is included in your resort fee.  I don't know which resort you are staying at but most of them have the official policy of "no tipping."  However, most of the guests at resorts do indeed tip staff for service regardless of the policy.  Being discreet about it is important.

I suggest you take small bills and nothing larger than a $5.  Ones are perfect for tipping and if you want to buy a bottle of rum, for example, at the airport on the way home the larger bills will work.  Off the resort property everyone will take US Dollars but by national law change must be given back in Jamaican Dollars.  This is why you don't want to take large US bills.

If you plan on taking a charge card you can use it at your resort to purchase items or to pay for trips (such as Dunn's River Falls.)

I also suggest you try to take everything you expect to need with you.  Items such as sun block can be bought at the resort but they are more expensive there and selections are limited.  That is the case throughout the island so don't expect low prices for goods.

A final suggestion:  go to TripAdvisor.com and type in your resort in the search area.  You will learn lots from the trip reports and can ask questions in the forums section.  You will get better and more informed answers there.

  3. we went all inclusive and brought one thousand dollars to spend and we came home with money.  but it depends on what you want to do we went to mayfield falls and i think it was $150 for 2 people and we ate at ricks cafe we spent $200 dollars there eating drinking and buying souvenirs. dont forget to keep money for your tax at the airport it think it was 30 dollars. online you can research what you want to do and go from there have fun

  4. Depending on what type of souverniers you plan on bringing back.. All inclusive covers all your meals and your lodging.

If you smoke then your cigarettes are on you. Suggest you but that at duty free before you leave your home country, Have a fabulous trip

  5. Just pocket money. all inclusive is covering your room and food + booze

you should have 500 extra bucks, for tipping, although everything is covered as far as drinks, you will be required to tip if you have barmaids. or massages.

maid  and kitchen staff should get at least 1.50 each a day, tour guides are at your choice. gratuities should cover  200 dollars.

the rest is playing the slot machines  they only cost a quarter.
