Austin stepped up to take the set piece but his eventual shot was a disappointing one as the ball sailed wide of Tim Howard’s goal in the end. In the 42nd minute, Agudelo had a clear cut goal scoring opportunity when he found himself in space inside the Jamaican penalty area. However the young striker’s shot was parried away by Ricketts once again. The rebound fell to Jones at the edge of the Jamaican penalty area but the American midfielder scuffed his shot as the first half came to and shortly after with the score line at nil all. U.S.A had a few goal scoring chances in the first half but their finishing led them down right from the first minute.
