After dominating the opening exchanges of their quarterfinal against Jamaica at the RFK stadium, U.S.A went onto maintain their control over the match. The rebound fell to Jones at the edge of the Jamaican penalty area but the American midfielder scuffed his shot as the first half came to and shortly after with the score line at nil all. U.S.A had a few goal scoring chances in the first half but their finishing led them down right from the first minute.
