i) Is it subsistence, commercial or specialized growing?

ii) What crops are grown on the island?

    Agriculture remains the dominant industry in the provincial economy, as it has since colonial times.

    1) Commercial agriculture

    2) Potatoes the principle crop

    1) Mostly commercial agriculture, a lot of it specialized, some subsistence

    The two major crops are sugar—with its byproducts molasses and rum—and bananas. Also important are citrus fruits, yams, coffee, allspice (pimento), cacao, tobacco, and ginger. Blue Mountain Coffee, a renowned gourmet brand, is grown on slopes just below 5,000 feet and is processed by a select group of Jamaican companies; other types of coffee are grown in the lowlands. Marijuana (ganja) is illegally grown in many areas and is a major money crop.
