I just got back from a vacation and still feeling a bit sad. This was my first time returning after leaving the island to live in the US two years ago. I thought going to Jamaica would make me feel better which it did but now that I am back I cannot stop thinking about it. I miss it so badly.I have no idea when I will be returning either because I am just 18 and will be beginning college in the fall which means I will be broke so I cannot buy plane ticket and go as I feel.

  1. go to go-jamaica.com and listen to power 106 for  free or u could just contact me and we could hang out.lol

  2. I feel ur pain.  It is torture i know.  i lived abroad for a little over 2 years and i went back to Jamaica SIX times over that time, I WAS SOO HOMESICK!!  It cost me a fortune on air fair, but i was lucky, i could afford it at that time.  Well it got so bad that i just couldnt take it anymore so i packed my bags and moved back home.  I have been back in Jamaica now for 10 months and  I couldnt be happier.  Do u have family in the US with u? that should make it a little easier. Also there are website where u can get student tickets at heavily discounted prices so when u cant bear it, maybe u can try that.   Good luck. i will pray for you, i know how depressing it gets.

  3. Trust me that feeling will gradually fade away. I was born in the US but lived in Jamaica for a while. When I return to the US then went to Jamaica to visit, when I was leaving that was the worse feeling ever. I felt blue for days. But gradually other things start to occupy your life and that feeling will become less. After finishing college I am able to travel to Jamaica 2 or 3 times for the year so my family really dont get a chance to miss me.

  6. Once you start college your focus will need to be on school.   Your thoughts will be directed more toward your school work.  You will also meet new people, new friends and professors that will change your life forever.  I'm not saying that your college experience will cure your homesickness or that it will replace your life back home, but it will redirect your focus and may help lessen your homesickness.  since you will not be able to travel back I would try keeping in contact back home through the internet.  it is much cheaper than phones.  It is free on the College internet and I'm sure there are locations like a library or cyber Cafe' that has a internet link back home if your family does not have a computer.  You are doing the right thing by going to college.  Keep it in mind that your situation is only temporary.  Your greatest sucess will be to return with a college degree.  Once you have finished College you will have set your self up with the resources that will enable you to afford to travel back and forth the rest of your life.  Keep your eye on the big prize.  think of it as a short term sacrifice that will pay you back the rest of your life.
