Jamari Rose narrowly beats Gonzalo Duany in Boy’s Singles round-of-16 at Pan Am Junior Championships
Jamari Rose, a passionate player from Jamaica, employed all of his skills in Boy’s Singles U19 round-of-16 clash and narrowly defeated Gonzalo Duany of Peru at the XXI Pan Am Junior Championships 2012 at Sherwood Park, Canada, on Wednesday, July 25.
The in-form Jamari, who participated in Boy’s Singles U19 category as an un-seeded player, put in extra effort and remained successful in winning the battle in a sensational battle.
The aggressive Jamari failed to prove his worth in opening rallies but found his way back in the following games and registered a three-set victory over Gonzalo by consuming 41 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, Gonzalo played impressive badminton in opening set but he could not maintain his focus in the match and lost the following both games to Jamari and crashed out at the pre-quarter-final stage.
In the first game, Gonzalo showed his class and gave a severe treatment to his Jamaican opponent and took an early lead without any problem.
On the other hand, Jamari remained quivering in his play as he failed to live up to expectations and remained far behind on score board at 6-11 until the mid-game break.
After the one-minute interval, Jamari tried his best and employed all of his skills to narrow the gap but failed to break the flow of his rival and lost the set with a 15-21 score on the board.
In the second game, both shuttler put up impressive show of attacking and composed badminton in opening half and remained close until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the score was 14-14 when Jamari played better game as he took over the control at net and also pushed his rival in all areas to end up the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the decider, it was a smooth ride for the Jamaican shuttler who was everywhere on court. He played controlled and fast badminton and took the deciding game with a one-sided margin of 21-12.
The impressive Jamari ended up the battle against Gonzalo in rubber games with a sensational score of 15-21, 21-17 and 21-12.
