James Allison hopes to achieve good result in 2012 European Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus technical director, James Allison has said that they are hoping to achieve good result in 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
Romain Grosjean of Lotus secured an impressive second podium finish in the Canadian GP held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10 after beginning from 7th grid position. He delivered an inspiring performance during the ending laps when he left
behind the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing and the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Allison said that after the last race, they have been able to gather some valuable information about their car which will surely help in improving their performance in the approaching race. In addition, he said that they are positively looking forward to
perform well in the European GP.
“Valencia is not exactly famous for challenging corners, but it definitely has a few more than Canada. The tarmac on the streets of Valencia is a little big rougher and it tends to be roasting hot at this time of year; these are all factors which tend to
suit us. Montreal was one of the circuits I had concerns about in terms of playing to the strengths of the E20, but we ran pretty well there. Hopefully with Valencia being more in our direction we can produce another good result,” he said.
It will be important to mention that Grosjean’s teammate, Kimi Raikkonen struggled with the functioning of DRS during the Canadian GP and could only secure 8th place finish after starting from 12th grid position.
Besides, the Finnish driver said that they need to improve their qualifying performance so as to produce better results in the approaching races.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier has said that they are making their best efforts to enhance their qualifying pace for the forthcoming races in order to make their position stronger in this year’s championship.
Above and beyond, the Enstone based team is certainly going to give a tough time to all the other contenders in the races ahead and it will be very interesting to see how the season makes progress.
