James Anderson admits watching subcontinent bowlers has improved him
England pacer and hero of the current Ashes series, James Anderson, has admitted that he picked a few bowling tricks by watching Indian left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan and Pakistan’s swing bowler Mohammad Asif.
Anderson told British Tabloid The Mirror that, “Last time we were in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, Zaheer Khan was hiding the ball in his hands so the batsmen didn’t know which way it would swing. I picked that up from him.” According to Anderson the English batsmen just couldn’t
guess where Zaheer would swing the ball, which made things really difficult for them. Anderson now always remembers to hide the ball when he comes in to bowl.
Speaking about the Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif, Anderson said, “I picked up a lot from Mohammad Asif when he was in England; how he hit the seam and could swing and wobble the ball. He is a world-class bowler and I try to learn and develop different kinds
of deliveries from that.”
Anderson was humble enough to admit that because of observing these players he has improved his bowling, and this is probably the reason why he has been a destructive bowler for England against the Aussies in this Ashes series. Anderson has come a long way
as a bowler since making his debut on in 2002 against Australia in an one-day international (ODI).
The 28-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 pacer believed that he needed to change his whole attitude before improving his swing and seam and that is exactly what he did. He said, “Body language is a huge thing — especially for a bowler. You don’t want to be seen trudging
to your mark, so I try to keep my shoulders back and be as positive as possible. In the past, I’ve been pretty average in that respect. People were telling me and I saw it for myself when I looked at games on TV. I could see my body language wasn’t good enough.”
England’s former coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steve-Harmison-c2576 were missing in that series, and the team needed
someone to step up.
Anderson praised his fellow team-mates for their outstanding performance against Australia in the current Ashes, which helped in retaining the urn and defeating the Aussies in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 after 24 years. Anderson has pledged to win the Ashes finale and take
the urn home in style.
