http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 feels fit and confident of stunning comeback
Having been confirmed to play the 3rd and final home Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at Rose Bowl, the English pacer, James Anderson, feels to be quite fit and ready to cast his bowling spell to contain the mighty Lankan batting line-up.
Anderson, who aggravated his injuries during the 1st Test at Cardiff, was rested in the 2nd Test so that he could recover and be available for the 3rd game.
After taking rest and medical treatment for a week, the pacer has come up somewhat fit and the team management has announced his inclusion in the squad for the 3rd Test.
Commenting on his comeback, Anderson said, “I'd quite like to get the overs under my belt because a match situation's very different to bowling in the nets. Unfortunately it's not going to happen, but I feel fine and hopefully I'll be fit for Thursday's
Test.”
He further said about the pitch, “Hopefully there'll be a bit more in the pitch at Southampton. It looked like a tough five days for the lads there.”
Despite the fact that the English skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566 and Chris Tremlet, in the 2nd Test, England’s bowling department was lacking and, resultantly, the game ended as drawn.
In order to test his fitness, the pacer played on Sunday for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 in a game of Friends Life T20 tournament. He bowled well and did not feel any problem.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 cricket team, while commenting on Jimmy’s comeback, said, “He bowled extremely well at Cardiff and is a fine, top-class bowler. You always miss quality bowlers.”
Making his international debut in 2002, the 28-year-old right-arm pacer has played 58 Tests, 142 ODIs and 19 T20Is so far with 215, 190 and 18 wickets respectively in all three formats.
Strauss is quite satisfied at Anderson’s comeback and he hopes that he will strengthen their bowling department to a great extent.
As it was evident in the Cardiff Test, the Lankan batmen are unable to defend the pace attack of Anderson. Strauss is keen to cash this weak point of Sri Lanka and win the series.
The 3rd Test will start on June 16.
