English fast bowler James Anderson is keen on helping his team revive its fortunes in the on-going ODI series against Australia.
The tourists trail the hosts 0-3 and need to win each of the four remaining matches to win the series.
Anderson, who was the start performer in the Ashes series, won by England 3-1, is looking forward to the opportunity of making a big difference in the limited overs series.
He added that he wanted to play in the rest of the series starting with the fourth match of the contest at the Adelaide Oval set to be played on Australian Day on 26th of January.
"To be honest we'll just see how the next couple of days go", he said. "I'll practice tomorrow [Tuesday] and if I come through practice I'll certainly be putting my name forward for selection. I'd like to think I bring some energy with both my bowling and fielding. I don't think we are that far away having seen the first three games. We aren't far away from a win and turning the momentum around".
Anderson added that the spirit in the camp was right and the team wanted to make a comeback especially as they want to build momentum ahead of the World Cup tournament.
However, the task is not that simple for the tourists after they lost the opening three games from seemingly strong positions.
"I know we are 3-0 down but the dressing room seems just as positive as when I left", he said. "They are still in good spirits. We know we are just one game away from turning the momentum around. We are looking to Wednesday to be a good all-round performance with both bat and ball".
Anderson has to show the kind of form that made him the best English bowler in the Ashes series where he made the ball talk causing all sorts of problems for the Australians.
All in all, the right-arm seamer sent down as many as 213 overs in the five Tests for 24 wickets, which is one of the best performances, in Ashes history.
The pacer had double joy come his way during the Test series when he went home to be with his wife for the birth of his second child, he returned as the leader of the pack bamboozling the Aussies with his prodigious swing especially in the wins at Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
He wants to put in the hard yards ahead of the World Cup in order to have full fitness for the all important tournament, which is regarded as the flagship event of International Cricket Council (ICC).
"It was nice to get a break. My body certainly needed it after the Test series", he said. "As you've seen we've got a couple of injuries at the minute. It's crucial that we go into the World Cup with a full-strength squad. The management has made good decisions in the past resting players so I'm sure they are going to do exactly the same leading up to the World Cup".
Meanwhile, the preparations of the England team have been hit hard after a spate of injuries. The tourists have a depleted bowling attack in Australia with the likes of Graeme Swann, Tim Bresnan and Stuart Broad recovering from injuries sustained during various stages of the tour.
Broad has been out of action since injuring his side muscle during the resounding win in the second Test at Adelaide.
He is undergoing rehabilitation in Australia and might take part in some of the remaining matches Down Under once he regains full fitness.
