James Anderson hopes to revive the team
England's star pacer, James Anderson has finally returned to Australia to join his touring team, after he was permitted to go back home to spend time with his family at the end of the Ashes series. Anderson, who had been phenomenal for England in their Ashes
victory, missed the first three ODI matches of the Common Wealth Cricket Series.
Australia made a spectacular comeback in the series after they were pulverized in the Ashes. In the first match, after posting a humongous total of 294 runs while bating first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the English failed to win the match, owing
to some remarkable batting by the Aussie all-rounder, Shane Watson, who remained not out after scoring 161 runs.
But it wasn't just http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 who gave the English bowlers a tough time; the English bowling looked below par against every batsman. The visitors could only manage to take four wickets before they lost the match to the raging Aussies.
England were missing their ace bowler, Anderson. Now that he has returned, the lanky bowler hopes to turn the fortunes of his team around.
"Hopefully, if I play well, I can add a bit of energy to the team. I can get a few fresh ideas in there", he said.
The player insisted that his side wasn't far away from the Aussies and needed to play a little better to regain their winning form.
"We just need to play better. We've played good stuff but we haven't clicked with both bat and ball in the same game. Hopefully we can do that on Wednesday. We've played some good cricket but only in parts", Anderson reiterated.
Anderson insisted that Wednesday's game was going to be a do or die situation for them because losing was not an option for England. He also admitted that traveling to England from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was really tiring, however, he stressed that he would be fine after
getting some sleep. This might be a concern for the team coach, Andy Flower, because the last time Anderson came back from visiting home after the birth of his second child, he looked completely out of touch, when he played in the third Test. The bowling looked
below average and, as a result, the tourists lost that particular match. Flower will be hoping that history doesn't repeat itself and his strike bowler performs in the upcoming crucial ODI.
