James Anderson winning race for Ashes fitness
England team director Andy Flower has expressed his confidence that paceman James Anderson will be fit in time for the first Ashes Test on November 25th.
Anderson had cracked a rib during England’s pre-Ashes camp in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904, but when they announced injury the ECB were positive Anderson would be fit to play at the Gabba.
Flower has now confirmed those sentiments, stating today that: “We had fitness testing and medical screening the other day at Loughborough and he’s already bowling at around 75% , so he should be fine for the first Test.”
“More than likely, he’ll be ready for two of those three warm-up games.”
That’s good news for England and Anderson, who will surely be looking to roll his arm over in Australian conditions that are less conductive to generating the dangerous swing he produced during England’s home Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in Nottingham.
“The three first-class games are very important for our batsmen to get into form, for our bowlers to do enough work so they are ready to attack from ball one in Brisbane, and to get up to speed with Australian conditions - the heat, the different pitches, a different ball,” Flower said.
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at the end of October, while Mitchell Johnson and Michael Hussey have been rested for the match.
