James Bord wins World Series of Poker Europe

The Main Event at the World Series of Poker Europe concluded after six days of play, with James Bord taking home his first WSOP gold bracelet along with the winner’s share of the €3,460,000 prize pool.
The €10,000 buy in No Limit Hold’em tournament took place at the Casino at the Empire in London, and attracted 346 entrants.

Among those that entered the tournament were 57 former WSOP bracelet winners. Six of the 57 managed to cash in the event, including Freddy Deeb (30th), Barry Greenstein (23rd), Greg Mueller (22nd), Phil Ivey (19th),
Hoyt Corkins (15th), and Roland de Wolfe (4th).
Bord is a 29-year-old professional poker player who prefers to play in high stakes cash games. But he is no stranger to the WSOP-prior to the win in the main event he had six WSOP cashes. Those cashes included a sixth place finish in this years Deuce-to-Seven
Lowball World Championship.
When the nine final table players sat down to play for the title, their chips stacks were as follows:
Dan Fleysham                        €1,946,000
Ronald Lee                             €1,899,000
Dan Steinberg                        €1,520,000
Roland de Wolfe                      €1,377,000
James Bord                             €1,331,000
Brian Powell                            €842,000
Fabrizio Baldassari                   €697,000
Nicolas Levi                             €428,000
Marc Inizan                             €349,000
Only one of the final nine, Dan Fleyshman, was not a professional poker player.  Fleyshman is the CEO of Victory Poker, an online poker site.
The final table took almost 11 hours of play to get down to the final two players, Fabrizio Baldassari and James Bord.
Baldassari held a commanding chip lead over Bord, 6,365,000 to 2,310,000 when heads-up play commenced. It only took one big hand to reverse the fortunes of the two final players. Baldassari limped before the flop and Bord made a raise to 300,000 from
the big blind. Baldassari re-raised all in and Bord made the call. Baldassari showed Qs 8s and Bord held Ad Kc. Bord was the favourite before the flop, and when the board brought nothing for either player he took the hand and moved to 6,410,000 chips.
The 232nd hand of the main event would prove to be the last. Baldassari was on the button when all the chips got in the middle before the flop. Bord tabled 10d 10h while Baldassari had his tournament life on the line with 5s 5h.

In the end, the board showed 9s 9d 8d Js Ad. After more than two hours of heads up play James Bord was the 2010 WSOP Europe Main Event Champion.
