James DeGale asks Frank Warren to bring him back like Amir Khan – Boxing news
The Chunky, James DeGale, who lost his British Super Middleweight Champion against George Groves in May 2011, has asked the promoter Frank Warren to bring him back to the ring like he brought Amir Khan.
Amir ‘The King’ Khan, lost his world title shot by the way of a knockout against Breidis Prescott in the first round back in September 2008 but Warren brought him back on the scene with only three fights.
DeGale said, “He brought Amir Khan back from a devastating knockout loss to a world title in only three fights so I know that he can do it for me.”
The 25-year-old Nottingham’s pugilist, DeGale, who has won 10 of his 11 fights including 8 by the way of a knockout, has been set for the European title in September 2011 against Poland’s Piotr Wilczewski and he thinks this is a great opportunity he has
been provided with.
DeGale told the media Warren has done a great job with for him and he will fully utilise the opportunity. Moreover, the delighted boxer revealed he is going to sign a three-year contract with Warren, as he thinks he is the best man for him in this sport.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “My promoter Frank Warren has done a great job in getting me home advantage for this title shot and now I’ve got to go out there, do the business and win it in style.”
He added, “In fact, I’m about to sign a new three year deal with Frank and I’m really happy that he will continue to build my career as he has done since I turned professional.”
It certainly is a very good opportunity for DeGale to get back under the big lights but it still remains to be seen if DeGale can really shrug off Wilczewski in the ring as the Wilk, Wilczewski, who is the current European Boxing Union’s champion, has also
lost only one fight out of his 30.
