James DeGale pleased with Frank Warren for getting him European title shot against Piotr Wilczewski
The Chunky, James DeGale is very pleased with his promoter Frank Warren as he brought him a chance for the European title on the back of defeat against George Groves.
The 2008 Olympic gold medallist James DeGale had an unbeaten record of winning all of his 10 fights including 8 by the way of a knockout until he faced the Saint, George Groves on May 21, 2011 for his World Boxing Association’s International super middleweight
title defence.
DeGale lost a close points’ decision to Groves and therefore his chances for getting a title straight away were very low.
However since Warren has secured DeGale a European title shot against the Polish combatant, Piotr Wilczewski on September 17, 2011 with a still-to-be-decided venue, DeGale is pretty delighted.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “It's fantastic that I'm fighting for the European title on my first fight back and full credit to Frank Warren for doing a great job in getting me it. I still think I won the fight against Groves, but that's in
the past and I'm moving onwards and upwards in my career and the European title is a major title I want to win.”
In the end, DeGale commented on his opponent the Wilk, Wilczewski, who is the current European Boxing Union’s champion and has won 29 of his 30 fights including 10 by the way of a knockout.
DeGale admitted in front of the media that Wilczewski is going to be a very tough opponent for him but on the same note he said he will win the fight as it is his chance to prove himself once again.
DeGale remarked, “He's got a good record, he carries a high world ranking and I reckon he is a much better fighter than Groves.”
“I want to be the best and I've got to get through this guy to prove it,” DeGale added.
Let’s see whether DeGale is be able to win the bout against the Polish pugilist or not.
